Wymount: Our new apartment

At 100 degree weather, Avery liked being in the nude the best.

Due to the blazing summer temperatures, we didn't wait long to put in the AC (thanks for the help, mom and dad!).

Look at what we found in our backyard.

Baby fawn!

The move was good. We took small loads throughout the week to our new place up the street and I even did some all by myself with a child on my hip. Saturday we had help from friends to move all our big stuff and even do some organizing (thanks: Burtons, Lees, Lybberts, and Kings!!). We're grateful for all the help!

Wymount Terrace is Student Family Housing for BYU and we moved here for the cheaper rent and also an extra bedroom for Avery. We do pay a little more, but considering the extra bedroom it's a much better deal. Plus our laundry is much cheaper, too. All in all, it's a great blessing to be under the church's resources. They take good care of us.

Being at Wymount, I'm surprised that our ward doesn't have a separate parking lot for strollers and a mother's lounge the size of a gym... this is definitely breeding grounds for the future of the church. However, as demeaning as that sounds to a mother myself (a "breeder"), there are undoubtable perks to being here: Our neighbors are super nice (offering lots of smiles, helping hands, new friends, and strolling buddies). We have deer and baby fawn in our backyard. The temple is closer than our church meeting house. BYU is across the street. There is an onsite Creamery and mini grocery store. Designated spaces to wash your car and use a hose for free. Playgrounds and grills at every corner. Quick maintenance. Internet and Cable. The list goes on.

It's a nice place here, it is. We're blessed.

Red is for Boys

Red... it's my favorite color. I've also always viewed it as 60% girl color and 40% boy color. However, this must not be so. I have a red onesie that Avery wears and from the moment I saw it something inside me said, "this is for a boy," but then I corrected myself, "no, red is for girls." So she's been wearing the thing and it still felt odd to see her in it; she strangely could pass just as well for a boy. Maybe it's the whole power color thing or bright red fire engine for tough boys. My suspicions were confirmed when our new bishop takes a good look at Avery and says with full confidence, "What a cute little BOY!" I don't blame him... I sort of blame myself for putting her in the color. She's also a chunk and for some reason I associate rolls with rolly-polly boys, not cute dainty little girls with soft pink outfits and feathers and bows. So- the moral of the story is- buy red for little BOYS. The end!

Five Months Old

Hahaha, I love this little chick-a-dee. Here she is at 5 months and in our bran new apartment at Wymount! It feels like she's grown so much in just one month (not just in size). I agree with my mom so far when she says this is her favorite baby stage 4/5/6 months. She's a really good baby and a joy to be with. I like to listen to her babble and have a good chat with her.

My goodness gracious

Look at the size of this baby! Compare her first bath with the bath I just gave her today (two days shy of 5 months). I can't believe she has about outgrown her baby bath! It's a good things she's really close to sitting up on her own because we're about to upgrade to the big bath.

Cute Kid

I love my smiley, happy girl! Here I even caught her smiling on her tummy (which is very rare).

What a big girl! She can almost sit up on her own and likes to pull out toys from her toy case. Aww!

Camping...Again?

It's a camping frenzy for us. After being home for seriously one night after our last camping trip, we hit the road again to join my brother, Steve's, family in the Payson Canyon for yet another 2 nights camping. What can I say: We love the outdoors! We also love our family, so who could pass up these opportunities?? Payson Canyon is very near to us, so the drive was cake. We're so lucky to be this close to the grand mountains and canyons and lakes and all the beauty that lies here. My nieces and nephews adored being with Avery and I think all the extra attention got her so wound up that she's getting much rest now that we're home. She likes her cousins (all of them) and we're lucky to live near so many. These are good days!

Baby Goes Camping

We went to visit Brian's family in Idaho over the holiday (Independence Day) and spent three days camping in the wilderness! We had a great time with the whole family! We're proud how well Avery handled the great outdoors for her first camping trip. She slept well despite the midnight cold leaving a chill on your nose and we're thankful the mosquitos were never an issue. Our trip was filled with mountain biking, playing catch, four wheeling, dirt biking, snacking, games, and talking around the fire. It's amazing how much prep work goes into a decked out camping trip; we sure had a blast!

Proud to be a camping family

Trying out her cousin, Briley's, camping chair. What a cutie booty!
