After the tragic event last fall when Brian's mountain bike was stolen he has been adamant on getting a new one. However, nothing could replace his first mountain bike (Specialized Hardrock Pro). Oh, he has had mountain bikes before, but this was his first one that he really liked and had great components.
He has gone to the bike store countless times, keeping his eye out for a replacement, but nothing seemed to measured up. The sad part is that Specialized discontinued the Hardrock Pro in 2008. Now nothing is comparable. It seems like you can either get a bike drastically below the quality of his previous bike or pay a whole lot more for a comparable bike.
After a long search, Brian finally found his match! Luckily being tax return season (and earning a sizable return at that) Bonnie allowed a specified amount to buy his jewel once he found it. It definitely is an upgrade and he got it for a great deal since it was last years model. He got a Stumpjumper.
The only problem with this bike is that it had rim breaks. I guess that is not really a problem, but Brian really wanted to have hydraulic disk breaks. Luckily there is a 15% discount on accessories & components and Brian got some nice high end Avid Elixir hydraulic disk brakes.
Needless to say Brian is a very happy guy and has an amazing wife!
