The Bouncer
We visited Grandma Olsen's house this past week for Avery's first time while Brian was in-between semesters. We enjoyed the time away and the extra helping hands to keep Avery busy. She sure is a busy one! As I said in a couple posts back, she likes to flail her arms and legs. She went to town big time on grandma's bouncer! love the video. (P.S. Thanks Grandma for babysitting so mom -that's me- could go four-wheeling and shooting with the gang! What a blast!) Yay for grandmas!
We think she likes it
I must say, we've become the most recent Bumbo fans (among the many). My sister-in-law, Julie, sent us a bumbo for Avery in perfect timing! She is just now confident enough at holding up her head to do it on her own while sitting in her new Bumbo. (What a funny word- Bumbo- I just love to say it! Bumbo! Bumbo! BUMBO! haha.) We got these cute pictures of her; hope you love them!
Shake it
Avery is quite a mover. She's usually busy flailing her arms and legs and she loves to use her legs to stand up (with mom and dad's support). What a strong little girl! Watch her dancing. :)

Two months old
One week old
One month old
Two months old
She looks like such a big girl in those jeans. I just love this cute outfit I've borrowed from Shelly! In this last picture, her head reminds me of a penguin; funny, huh. She doesn't look a lot different from her one month in this picture, I don't think. Her personality is developing a lot, though. She is growing more and more aware of the people/things around her. She is also getting bigger at a good rate.
At birth: 7 lbs 6 oz & 20 inches
Two weeks: 8 lbs 5 oz & 21.5 inches
Two months: 11 lbs 12 oz & 23.5 inches

Being mom is tough sometimes
Thursday I came down with a nasty cold- sore throat, runny nose, sneeze, cough, the whole nine yards. My biggest concern was for little Avery, because how sad would that be to get your own baby girl sick and how miserable to have both of us under the weather! Therefore, I was being careful (though I was almost sure she would unavoidably get sick too). Thankfully she has shown no sign of illness thus far. I was so proud of my little girl on Friday when she let me lay in bed all day to recover. She pleasantly laid on top of the comforter on the other side of our bed and hardly made a peek (awake or not) until she was hungry. She was entertained simply by looking around the room. Despite this excellent behavior, my sickness just got worse as I gained a temperature of 101.3 and started getting the chills. Sadly, we had to cancel our dinner/game night with Jenni and Jared.
All day Saturday Brian took such good care of me. He cleaned the house, made the food, ran errands, and took Avery the whole time (whenever she wasn't hungry). I got a lot of great sleep in. Thank you, Brian! By Sunday morning I fel
t so much better that we all went to church and were able to go to my brother, Steve's, house for Easter dinner that night.
Sunday night: disaster hits. Alas, my fabulous recovery is now in the past. It was a sleepless night for Avery and I. After getting up with her every 15-30 minutes or so, I finally just started to ball around 4 am. I was so exhausted and helpless. She wouldn't eat more that a couple minutes at a time (the reason she kept waking up so frequently) and she was struggling to release her gas. (Come to think of it... why didn't I pull out the gas drops?). I felt better after I cried it all away even though her behavior didn't change until 7 am when she slept for 3 solid hours. I'm sure glad I had such a large sympathy for Avery last night- I simply wished her to feel better so we could both get some sleep.
I only felt angry once and then realized she's just a helpless baby who's struggling just as much as I am. Her cries were innocent and not piercing (I hope that lasts a while).
Monday morning: now that Avery is sleeping I ought to go back to bed and stop typing. Smart idea.
